Quick Peak at Romeo + Juliet Photoshoot Stationery

By in Creations

I’ve been gearing up for today for weeks. Amanda over at In the Now asked me to help her with some stationery for a photoshoot she was styling. The shoot was for a group of photographers who wanted some subjects. Amanda gave them a lot of bang for their buck with a tabletop design, details, a ceremony set-up, cake table, and lots of beautiful brides all centered around a Romeo & Juliet theme.

When I first heard about the theme, I have to admit that I was a little weirded out. Romeo & Juliet may seem romantic on the surface but let’s face it, R+J did not end well; not the kind of imagery I would want to plan my wedding around.

However, I was really surprised to see it all come together. Amanda chose a palette of purples, dusty rose, navy and antique gold. With curtains, lace, candles and her signature modern twist, the elements were beautiful.

My role in the process was to design and produce stationery for the various vignettes. I took a little inspiration trip to downtown LA last week with Amanda and Rachel from In the Now for supplies. We picked up lace, organza, lots of ribbons, and all the pearls we could find. After hearing more about her vision, I knew I wanted to create some pieces that would incorporate these rustic and romantic elements but still have a modern flair.

I’ll share the finished products with you as soon as I get images from some of my lovely friends. For now, here are some pictures of the process. I designed the pieces in Illustrator and InDesign, had them printed at FedExOffice, cut them, crumpled them, stained them with tea, baked them in the oven, ironed them and then pressed them under lots of books.

Looking back it seems like a rather inefficient process. While it may have been slow, I’m really happy with the end result and I can’t wait to show them off soon.

So this looks super fun. When do we get to see the completed project? I’ve been expectantly waiting. :-)

Soon Melissa. I’m just collecting images from the fabulous photographers from the day. When I’ve got them, I’ll share them.
