While it may seem a little silly to walk away from a job in a “down economy,” that’s what I did. After months of hemming and hawing, I just quit my job. Call me “crazy” but I want a new life.
I’m not sure what will be next for me in my career but I have definitely decided that this year will include (in no particular order):
• having more friends (new and old) in our home for dinner
• riding a Vespa (preferably a cherry red vintage one but I’ll take what I can get)
• learning French
I’ll also spend some time scheming about how I might fund these and other projects in my life. I have some ideas about where to go from here in my career but I am quite open. I have loved working in the wedding industry. Creating invitations and stationery for people who have style, vision, and personality was a great joy (sometimes!). Collaborating with other innovative professionals has been a thrill (always!). While I might continue to pursue weddingish sorts of things or start on a whole new path, I certainly want to continue to deepen relationships with these dear people I value and who value how I think.
In the meantime, I’ll probably get a job pouring coffee or something while clearing my head. I’m sure I’ll also be practicing my stellar diy skills on all manner of projects including finishing the remodel of our back porch, turning our dormant garden into a flourishing cornucopia of deliciousness & beauty, and throwing a lovely shower for a friend who is expecting a little one.
Stay tuned here for the results of these and other adventures in the new life of Allison Howell.
I will leave you with a picture of what I picked up at the library yesterday.

Congratulations! You’re gonna rock! As the french would say, “BRAVO!”
Gratitude, love, following your heart! wonderful stuff! all the best wishes to you on your unfolding path. <3
